Ameriscan Design, an SCI company, is an American-based manufacturing company that specializes in providing high-performance furniture to the restaurant, educational, hospitality, healthcare, corporate, and gambling industries is hiring a Design Engineer.
This position is primarily responsible for designing and drawing (Microvellum, AutoCAD & Inventor) essential items that will be manufactured by SCI shop employees. Is also responsible for ordering materials for projects, contacting customers and contractors to coordinate what SCI products will integrate into existing dimensions and site conditions, and overseeing production and packaging of the final product by performing the following duties.
Core duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Participate in Pre-Order meeting with a Customer Service Representative.
- Compare orders to the layout provided to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Order non-stocked materials necessary for projects through purchasing.
- Draws/models in Microvellum, AutoCAD & Inventor production design drawings to SCI Standard Design Procedures.
- Program of parts for CNC machines (training is done on-site, some experience a plus).
- Cross collaborates with Project Managers and Manufacturing personnel.
- Responsible for updating the bill of material and descriptions before issuing it to the floor.
- Prepares construction and installation drawings.
- Respond to project changes quickly and efficiently.
- Prioritize effectively to maximize time.
- Strong ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attitude and strong work ethic is a MUST!
- 8 – 10-hour shift depending on workload and project timelines.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering Technology; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in millwork construction is a plus.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret Architectural documents and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and write effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Database software and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, etc.).
